December 2022 | Trivia Game
I am at the restaurant in Roma, enjoying my favorite activity—people watching. Of course!
Across from my table, while waiting for my food to be served, I saw a cute family engaging in some activities while awaiting their food as well. It caught my attention because none of them were on their screens—finally, no iPad-kids or iPhone-adults. I learned that it is hard but possible to keep a family engaged without having to constantly stare at screens.
They were a family of 5, sounding American, though they spoke different languages. I assumed some of the kids had studied abroad or had some exposure to international experiences.
Let’s get to the point. What did they do to keep each other occupied? Instead of sticking with their devices, they played a “Trivia Game.” Man, I just love this family vibe. Trivia seems to be active; it engages both kids and adults, and to be fair, the kids could outsmart adults just fine.
I adore overhearing their joys, giggles, and small debates. They even switched languages as well.
This is my ideal of a family, if I were going to co-create one.
